Frequently Asked Questions

There are no specialists familiar with the XML format in our company. Will we be able to work with XML documents using Sydock anyway?
What is the difference between Sydock and the other programs of its class?
The WYSIWYG XML-editor, that I use at present, does not support XSLT and allows for viewing and editing the whole XML-document only, irrespective of how big it is, which is extremely inconvenient. Is Sydock capable of creating a document template to allow viewing and editing only certain elements of a big document?
We are planning to base our department's documents circulation system on Sydock, but far not all employees are familiar with even the basics of XML. Will they be able to create at least simple schemas and stylesheets without a designer's help?
I want to be able to create XML-schemas in my mother tongue. Is it possible?
Sydock is installed on 100 computers of our company. If our designer creates a new template for a new type of corporate documents, will it mean that we will have to install this template manually on each of the hundred?
As Sydock allows for specifying a corporate server, which any search for new templates is directed to at a document load, does it also imply that our administrator has to manually enter the server address on each of the computers with Sydock installed?

Q:  There are no specialists familiar with the XML format in our company. Will we be able to work with XML documents using Sydock anyway?
A:  Definitely, you will. Sydock is especially designed for those users, who are not at all familiar with XML. The program uses the paradigm of a regular text processor, it does not use any specific XML-terms. At the same time, with Sydock you gain full access to the advantages of the modern XML - XSLT, CSS, W3C Schema technologies, which Sydock employs, transparently to the user.

Q:  What is the difference between Sydock and the other programs of its class?
A:  The main distinction of our product from the competitors' is that it is targeted, first of all, to be used by an average user, not only by an IT professional. Sydock has a very convenient and user-friendly interface, so both the employers and the employees, from Head of the IT Department to a secretary, can use the tool equally easy. Besides, there are a number of functional advantages. For more details contact our support team at: CONTACT US

Q:  The WYSIWYG XML-editor, that I use at present, does not support XSLT and allows for viewing and editing the whole XML-document only, irrespective of how big it is, which is extremely inconvenient. Is Sydock capable of creating a document template to allow viewing and editing only certain elements of a big document?
A:  Yes, it is. A Sydock DP special realization of the XSLT process has been developed, which enables it to create document templates for viewing and editing only the very elements of a document that you need. In Sydock you can choose to work either with a selected sub-collection of an XML document or with the whole document.

Q:  We are planning to base our department's documents circulation system on Sydock, but far not all employees are familiar with even the basics of XML. Will they be able to create at least simple schemas and stylesheets without a designer's help?
A:  They definitely will. Sydock provides special visual schema and stylesheet editors, which allow for the drag'n'drop creation of schemas and stylesheets from a set of ready-made form controls.

Q:  I want to be able to create XML-schemas in my mother tongue. Is it possible?
A:  Yes, it is. Sydock supports internationalization, which, in particular, allows you to create schemas in any language of the World: you just switch the keyboard layout to your mother tongue, when you create element descriptions.

Q:  Sydock is installed on 100 computers of our company. If our designer creates a new template for a new type of corporate documents, will it mean that we will have to install this template manually on each of the hundred?
A:  Originally Sydock was created for internal use in big companies, that is why it includes all tools for its convenient application to environments with numerous workplaces. For instance, you can setup your Sydock to automatically search for and install a template, if a document load detects that the template for this document has not been installed on this computer. Thus, if you open a document, a template for which has not been installed, Sydock will automatically search for the missing template on the corporate server and install it unnoticeably to the user, for whom it all will look as if the template was already on the computer! For more details type "Install document templates on demand" in the Index box of Sydock Help.

Q:  As Sydock allows for specifying a corporate server, which any search for new templates is directed to at a document load, does it also imply that our administrator has to manually enter the server address on each of the computers with Sydock installed?
A:  No, it does not. Even the initial Sydock Document Processor installation provides the opportunity to specify certain parameters automatically. Specifically, before the actual program installation, you can use, for instance, Windows batch-files to indicate, what server should be automatically searched for new templates, in the command line of the program setup. For more details type "Advanced Installing" in the Index box of Sydock Help.
